well this was it , i was tired of having to wait until my harley buddys started there rides before i'dd crank up mine. why? you ask. i wasn't happy with the sound. so after rereading the post i set to work saturday to make more sound,
first i drilled out 4 rivets to remove the end plate but NO!! there was 2 spot welds also holding the plate on, so i removed the muffler put it into the vise and used the plasma torch to cut the inner edge out of the baffel. after remove and tossing it into the trash i used a die grinder and cut the end plate to about 2" , slid a 4" piece of muffler pipe into it, letting it stick out about 1/4" beyond the end of the muffler body , my welder nozzle was too large to fit in between the pipe and the muffler body. so i had to take it to a bud's house and use his tapered nozzle welder, then i put a layer of muffler sealant on the head pipe end and reinstalled the muffler, fired it up and WOW!! no more sewing machine bike :) i think i got a little more top end power out of it too, thanks to Pete and Pete for the picts and drawings!
